OUR BUSINESS: We are a leading Antique Dealer. Our business is over 30 years old and was established on the Internet in 1996. We have many delighted Clients from all over the World - see our recent Testimonials.  Over the years we have sold literally thousands of pieces of fine furniture.  We hold a portfolio of nearly 10,000 photos of our stock past and present.  All our pieces are fully restored (where necessary) to the highest retail standards.  In addition, all our stock is our own - so no middle men, agents or third party websites to deal with.

To assist our Clients buy the right desk or table for their home or office we have prepared two guides.  Firstly, our Guide to Buying an Antique Desk and secondly our Reasons to Buy an Antique Desk.  Together these two documents describe what is available, what to look out for, and typical sizes, woods and prices.  We have also prepared a Care of Antique Furniture Guide to assist once the item is purchased.

FINDING THE IDEAL DESK:  Our desks generally come in mahogany, oak, walnut and other fine woods.  We feature pieces primarily from the Georgian, William IV, Victorian and Edwardian eras. Prices for our fully restored examples start at less than £1,000 and go up to £8,000 or more for an exceptional item with good provenance.   To assist we also offer a Finding Service as well as data on Famous Makers, a Glossary of English Antique Furniture Terms and information on Styles and Period Features.

ALL OUR STOCK IS RESTORED:  All our stock is fully restored (where necessary) to the highest retail standards.  More information on how we restore our stock can be found on our Restoration page together with examples showing "before" and "after" photographs. We also offer a custom restoration service whereby any of our un-restored desks and tables may be restored to the Clients own specification e.g. fitting of the a leather top to the Clients own choice

SIZES:  We categorise our stock by size, primarily, width and depth.  Therefore our Large Desks and Writing Tables typically have a width greater than 60" (153cm), Medium sizes have a width greater than 48" (122cm) and Smaller sizes have a width of 48" (122cm) or less.  A Large Partners Desk may have a depth of 42" (107cm) to 48" (122cm) to accommodate the extra drawers and/or cupboards on the reverse side.

HISTORY OF ANTIQUE WRITING FURNITURE: An old writing desk is one of the most appealing items of furniture. See our recent article on the History and Fashions of Antique Writing Furniture.  We have supplied antique writing furniture to the producers of major movies and to the homes of many internationally recognized figures from all walks of life. We have even provided unique items to London West End shops to act as staging for their latest collections and displays. We maintain an extensive photographic archive of all our stock past and present (approaching 10,000 digital images) - some classic examples of items we have sold can be seen in our Antique Desks Archive.
