Practical, neat and attractive they complement home offices and studies. desks range in age from the Georgian through the Victorian era to the Edwardian period. Over the years we have sourced and sold fine examples of small desks by well known makers such as Heal & Son, Gillows, Maple & Co and Shoolbred of London.
STOCK NOTES: SMALL ANTIQUE DESKS Description: Usually in the form of Pedestal Desks. Can be single piece or three pieces. Sizes: Range in width up to around 48" (122cm). Depth can vary from 20" (50cm) up to 36" (91cm). Height to the working surface is usually around 30" (76cm) and the height of the kneehole is around 24" (61cm) Woods: Mahogany, Oak, Walnut and Burr Walnut, and occasionally Rosewood, Pitch Pine and Satinwood. Ages: Small desks date from the early part of the 19thC (early 1800's) (Georgian, William IV, Regency), through the Victorian period and into the late Victorian Arts & Crafts period, the Edwardian era and into the reigns of George V and George VIConfigurations: Varying configurations usually based on the traditional Pedestal Desk arrangements. These desks can be of three piece or single piece construction. Pedestal desks have drawers only to the front and a panelled rear. Prices: prices for good quality fully restored Small Desks start at around £1,000 and go up to £4,000, or more, for a very high quality desk of excellent provenance.
