ANTIQUE READING TABLE - J FOOT & SON PATENT "ADAPTA"

Fantastic piece of history. Rare, original and in excellent complete order this is a Patent Table by the firm of J Foot and Sons who produced a number of unique and original designs for items around the home (including a home Turkish Bath!). This is the Patent "Adapta" Table dating from the early 1900's. See below Advertisements for this aid for the home (these can be seen FULL SIZE in the Gallery). a) Illustrated London News Oct 20th 1908 edition and b) a more extensive Advertisement from 1915 where the advertising copy had a more topic wartime feel to it being placed during the First World War.
1908 1915 Our Photo Gallery shows some of the many configurations that the table can take. Construction is of mahogany and cast iron with superb detailing - including the spring loaded brass pull out tabs to hold reading materials in place on the main table top. Note the second circular top for drinks, lamp, candles etc! Suitable for many uses - reading stand, music stand or bedside table. Great condition - it has been cleaned by us and checked over - in full working order and unlikely that you will come across another one like it outside of a museum ! A great conversation piece!
