A fine Victorian writing table in oak, by the firm Howard & Sons of London, with locks by Hobbs & Co:

FEATURES

• Twin drawers, each with a pair of original turned wooden knob handles
• Black leather hide inset to the gadroon moulded edge top
• Embossed work and gold tooling to the leather writing surface
• Twin false drawers to the rear elevation, with detailed carving to the rear frieze
• Hand-cut dovetail joints to the mahogany lined drawers
• Twin lines of parallel scratch-stock moulding to the all elevations
• Original wheeled castors in brass
• Ball and ring turned tapering legs, with stop fluting
• Original brass drawer locks, stamped 'Hobbs & Co' of London
• Drawer top edge stamped 'HOWARD & SONS' of ' BERNERS St.', London.
