Antiquedesks.net We stock a limited range of fully restored English Antique Desk Chairs and Antique Library Chairs. Each of our chairs is individual and has been restored to the highest professional standards. Where appropriate each chair has been freshly re-upholstered using traditional techniques and the best quality materials and is ready for many years of further service. We generally choose chairs that complement our stock of antique desks and tables however occasionally we find chairs that are of such character and style that we buy them to sell as individual examples of fine English craftsmanship. STOCK NOTES: ANTIQUE DESK CHAIRS & ANTIQUE LIBRARY CHAIRS Description: English Antique Desk Chairs and Library Chairs come in a wide variety of styles, sizes and arrangements. Early chairs tended to be of simple fixed construction with or without arms. Later Victorian Desk chairs gained swivel, tilt, height and other movement mechanisms. Chairs can be found with and without castors/wheels and with plain wooden seats, fabric covered sprung seats and leather sprung seats (horsehair padding). Desk chairs with mesh (cane) seats and backs are also to be found. Leather button back chairs (desk and library) are very popular. Sizes: Varies - each chair is individual! Library chairs tend to be larger and more elaborate and luxurious than desk chairs Woods: Mahogany, Oak, and Walnut. Ash, elm and beech chairs can also be found Ages: Good examples of fine English Chairs can be found dating from the early part of the 19thC (early 1800's) (Georgian, William IV, Regency), through the Victorian period and into the late Victorian Arts & Crafts period and the Edwardian era. Prices: Our prices for good quality fully restored English Antique Desk Chairs and Antique Library Chairs start at around £500 and go up to £1,500, or more, for a high quality chair of excellent provenance.
