A very pretty small Inlaid Victorian Mahogany Davenport Writing Desk.  This Davenport Desk dates from the late Victorian period.  It has an opening and lockable writing slope with simple fitted interior. To the left of the main pedestal are four dummy drawers each with a pair of turned mahogany handles.  On the right hand side there are four opening and lockable drawers each with turned mahogany handles, together with a pull out and hinged pen drawer with compartments.  This Davenport Desk stands on turned wooden feet with carved supports.  The carved supports are repeated under the writing slope.  The desk has plain polished figured mahogany front and rear elevations.  A particular feature of this desk is the inlay  ("Tunbridge Ware" Style) to the writing slope and gallery.  The writing slope itself has a red leather writing surface with embossing and gilding.

This is a particularly pretty smaller Davenport Desk suitable for many locations around the home given its nice proportions and impressive colouring.  It should be noted that some of the delicate inlay work shows signs of some minor older repairs - however these have been well done and do not detract from the overall appearance of the desk. These repairs have been reflected in the competitive price of this desk.
