A very interesting Early Victorian Pedestal Desk made from the tropical hardwoods Jackwood and Ebony.  This desk has many unique features including the arched kneehole and campaign style desk top with square edges.  Original wooded handles and unique ebony lozenge shaped escutcheons. Original working brass locks and keys this fine desk has a dark green and gilded older replacement leather writing surface in excellent condition.  A one piece desk with a plain boarded rear elevation typical of the period this desk has wheeled castors for ease of movement.

FEATURES - 2001 Antique Early Victorian Pedestal Desk

  • Handsome and unique Antique Early Victorian Pedestal Desk
  • Traditional and classic nine drawers to the front elevation
  • Feature Arched kneehole
  • Three graduated drawers to each of the twin pedestals, with three frieze drawers above
  • Dark green leather writing surface inset to the top
  • Blind embossed and gold tooling to the inset leather
  • Brass locks throughout with keys
  • Ebony lozenge escutcheon to each drawer lock keyhole
  • Wheeled castors recessed to each pedestal
  • Dust corner mouldings to each drawer interior, with all drawer linings in Jackwood
  • Plain rear elevation - suitable for the desk being placed against a wall
  • Solid one piece construction to allow for shaping of the feature arched kneehole
